As Allison mentioned during her opening, good equity work happening in CA through CSforCA. https://csforca.org/

25:24
Code.org’s Equity Profile is basically how we provide a laser-like focus on equity to drive recruitment and resource allocation within our internal partner network

27:05
We also have state specific handout PDFs that can be downloaded from our State of CS website. https://advocacy.code.org/stateofcs (scroll down to the bottom the website)

46:11
Does anyone have links to culturally relevant resources for CS that we can look at as exemplars?

47:00
Students testifying in Wyoming was key to getting CS legislative requirements off the ground.

47:09
Yes! I love Jannie Fernandez and TECHNOLOchicas.

47:13
Per Paula’s question: https://scienceinthecity.stanford.edu/resources/culturally-relevant-computer-science-engineering-curriculum/

47:20
Great organization

47:21
RIGHT! Jannie is amazing!

47:35
Hi Paula, this is what we are attempting to build! our friends at COMPUgirls have some great resources and Kim Scott has developed a theoretical framework as well

48:35
Thank you @Pat and @Allison.

49:15
also, Jean Ryoo has some great work on elevating student voice and interest to make topics culturally relevant

49:53
Maybe NCWIT can be encouraged to make available comments from the many thousands of females in the Aspirations FB page.

49:58
Also, this recent book has a chapter (12) that may be useful! https://www.shuchigrover.com/atozk12cs/table-of-contents/

50:12
One of my favorite resources (for larger equity in the classroom) is NYC’s Equity page https://sites.google.com/strongschools.nyc/equity/cs4all-equity

50:21
One of my favorite resources (for larger equity in the classroom) is NYC’s Equity page https://sites.google.com/strongschools.nyc/equity/cs4all-equity

51:16
NCWIT has some excellent resources and research related to implicit bias on their site - Ncwit.org/resources and search for “bias”

52:08
Should have said unconscious bias in my previous post

52:40
has their been data collected around administrators and/or schools leaders?

52:41
ncwit.org/c4c is a great program

53:55
Also if anyone missed the launch of the state of CS and is interested in watching the webinar here it is: https://code.zoom.us/rec/share/B1WmGjbqn_844BznzbN0zBHpdkTtPCHBQWw97YlEIKdcYVbnIJG9jEl601g3RvLC.GtYw3nOFxkR_1Qc_ Passcode: IuU&7%rG

54:23
That's a great question, Jill. It would be very interesting to see who the CTE directors are and what their biases are. They have an outsized influence on CS education in the southern states.

56:24
U of Texas is offering a class "Strategies for Effective and Inclusive CS Teaching" https://utakeit.tacc.utexas.edu/effective-strategies-V2/

57:16
Thank you Paula!

57:29
sharing this with colleagues at UCB and at Duke!

57:48
@Dan - not just the southern states, but large urban districts as well. We launched a program looking at CS and CTE this summer and had an opening session with the lead of CS and lead of CTE talking about how equity concerns intersects their two programs. You can find the recording on the website: https://www.csforall.org/projects_and_programs/csforcte/

58:36
Can Allison share more about the pilot teacher PD focused on racial equity?

58:39
Great questions, Dan and Jill! Id love to know if anyone is doing this work?

59:26
Thanks, Leigh Ann!

59:42
@Allison - U of T offers a facilitator training class which I am taking now so that we can then train the teachers in our state.

01:01:33
I would love to learn more!

01:01:40
There is some cool data from NYU Research Alliance about CTE and equity: https://research.steinhardt.nyu.edu/site/research_alliance/ (all CTE not just CS)

01:02:04
Okay team, Will do closing remarks. Kalisha, and Alexis, can I start with you?
